With about 2,300 undergraduates, Clark is well known for its intimate environment. Yet with its the large cohort of international students and the substantial funding for research made available to Clarkies, one would never know that it is the second smallest among the top 75 national universities ranked by U.S. News.

Clark’s most famous faculty member and alumnus is arguably Robert H. Goddard, the father of modern rocketry, who received his MA and PhD at the University, taught here, and performed experiments on campus. Besides Goddard we have had many other distinguished faculty and alumni including recipients of an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award, two Pulitzer Prizes, and America’s first Nobel Prize in the sciences. From founding the American Psychological Association to founding Panera Bread, Clark notables also include at least three living billionaires, perhaps most famously, Jeffrey Lurie, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles. Other alumni include former Mayor of Worcester Raymond Mariano, early 20th century Chinese romantic poet Xu Zhimo, and one of Forbes 30 under 30 in Education entrepreneur Rebecca Liebman who graduated in 2015.
